School Uniform
At Barry Primary and Nursery School, we take pride in our school uniform, which fosters a sense of belonging and unity within our school community. Our school colours are jade, navy, and white and the uniform is as follows:
- A navy sweatshirt, cardigan, or fleece - hooded sweatshirts are not permitted.
- A white or jade polo shirt or white shirt.
- Black or grey trousers (not jeans), school shorts, skirts, or pinafore dresses.
- For colder weather, grey or navy tights are recommended, while blue gingham dresses may be worn in the summer.
- Sensible black shoes or plain black trainers should be worn for comfort and practicality.
For PE days, pupils come to school dressed in their PE uniform. They are expected to wear the following:
- A plain white t-shirt,
- Navy PE shorts or navy plain tracksuit for colder weather
- Plimsolls or trainers should be worn for PE activities.
No item of clothing should include logos or pictures.
Please label all bags and clothing with your child’s name and class.
Outdoor Clothing
We recognise the importance and benefits of outdoor play and learning, we therefore request that children come to school in a warm washable coat. In the warmer, sunnier months we request that children bring a hat to school.
Jewellery
For safety reasons, jewellery in school is kept to a minimum. Only small metal stud earrings and a small watch are permitted – smartwatches are not permitted. All jewellery must be removed for PE lessons to prevent injury. If children are having their ears pierced, we advise this takes place during the summer holidays to allow time for healing and to avoid disruption to school activities. We appreciate parental support in ensuring that our jewellery policy is followed to maintain a safe learning environment.

Store opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:30 am to 5 pm. They are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays, as well as on Bank Holidays. Items can also be ordered online via the Stevensons website.
There is no obligation to buy from here; any plain clothes in the school colours would be acceptable. Please note that polo shirts with a logo are available in both colours but may have to be ordered. All clothing and footwear should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.
The school welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities. If there are valid reasons, for example religious objections, why parents want their child to wear clothes that differ from the school uniform, the school will consider such requests.
