Year 3
Welcome to Year 3 at Barry Primary and Nursery School – a year full of curiosity, creativity and discovery!
As children begin their Key Stage 2 journey, Year 3 is an exciting step forward filled with hands-on learning and imaginative exploration. We dive into rich literature that sparks creativity and helps pupils develop expressive, purposeful writing. From fiction adventures to non-fiction discoveries, reading and writing are at the heart of everything we do.
In geography, we explore the wider world and develop our map skills, while in history, we travel back in time to investigate the lives of Ancient Egyptians and the fascinating world of the Stone Age. Closer to home, we explore the local area of Northampton and uncover the unique history of our school, helping children connect with their community and surroundings.
Our creative curriculum includes art, music, PE, and DT, where a highlight is designing and building our very own model castles. Through sport, children build teamwork and sportsmanship and in science, they conduct practical investigations to understand the world around them.
Local trips and enrichment activities bring learning to life and our emphasis on active, meaningful experiences ensures every child feels inspired to ask questions, take risks and thrive. Year 3 is a vibrant and nurturing year where curiosity leads the way.
