Year 4

Welcome to Year 4 at Barry Primary and Nursery School – a year of adventure, creativity and hands-on learning!

This year, our children dive into a wide range of exciting topics and experiences designed to build knowledge, confidence and independence. From engaging science investigations and real-world maths challenges, to inspiring art and DT projects, our curriculum is full of variety and opportunity.

We explore local history with a visit to Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, and develop resilience and teamwork on our exciting residential trip. In Geography, we look at rivers and natural disasters, while in History, we step into the world of the Romans. Our work in English is supported by quality literature that sparks imagination and expression.

A key focus in Year 4 is developing rapid recall of multiplication facts in preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in the summer. We make this fun and engaging through interactive games and regular practice that boosts both speed and confidence.

We continue to embrace OPAL Play, promoting active, imaginative play and well-being every day. With school events, enrichment days and plenty of opportunities to shine, Year 4 is a joyful and rewarding stage of learning.
