E-Safety
At Barry Primary and Nursery School, we are fully committed to ensuring our pupils are equipped to navigate the digital world safely, respectfully and responsibly. In an increasingly connected society, the importance of educating children about online safety cannot be overstated.
E-Safety is embedded throughout our computing curriculum and further reinforced through the Jigsaw PSHE scheme of work, providing pupils with a comprehensive understanding of safe and appropriate online behaviour.
To deepen pupils’ awareness, we host an annual E-Safety drama performance for Years 5 and 6, delivered by drama students from a local secondary school. This engaging and age-appropriate production brings key safety messages to life in a memorable and meaningful way.
We also recognise the importance of supporting our wider school community. Regular parent coffee mornings are held throughout the year, offering advice and discussion around current online safety matters, helping families stay informed and involved.
In addition, we take a responsive approach to emerging issues by delivering reactive lessons and assemblies, guided by the newly developed Pol-Ed programme, a trusted educational resource created in collaboration with the police. This allows us to address specific concerns swiftly and effectively as they arise.
Through a consistent, whole-school approach that involves pupils, staff, and parents, we aim to create a culture of digital responsibility and awareness that supports our children both now and in the future.
